High Water Flow Over Trail to Saamis Archeological Site
Southeast side of Kin Coulee Trans Canada Tunnel
Posted Date: 3/16/2017 9:30 AM

Medicine Hat - With the recent snow and now warm weather, there is significant water run off on the trail leading to Saamis Archeological Site (off leash dog park trail access), located on the south side of the tunnel under the Trans Canada Bridge in Kin Coulee Park.

The trail and access to the Saamis Archeological Site has now been temporarily closed due to potential ice hazard.  The department will continue to monitor and do the necessary maintenance to open the pathway as soon as possible.

People are reminded that there are other access points to the Saamis Archeological Site, from the Saamis Teepee parking lot and on Southwest Drive SW.

In addition, there are many other designated off leash areas located throughout the city that dogs and their owners can enjoy.  To view these areas, please visit the City of Medicine Hat’s website by clicking here.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time.
